EASME – Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
The Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) has been set-up by the European Commission to manage on its behalf several EU programmes in the fields of SME support & innovation, environment, climate action, energy and maritime affairs.
Programmes present
Horizon 2020 Energy Efficiency provides support for innovation through research and demonstration of more energy-efficient technologies and solutions; and market uptake measures to remove market and governance barriers by addressing financing, regulations and the improvement of skills and knowledge.
Since 2014, the H2020 Energy Efficiency programme supported over 300 projects in the research, demonstration and market up-take of energy-efficient technologies and solutions in buildings, SMEs, industry, heating and cooling, public authorities, products and services, consumers as well as for improving the attractiveness of energy-efficiency investments.
The last H2020 Energy Efficiency Call is open and proposals can be submitted until 10th September 2020.
The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. Since the programme began in 1992, it has co-financed more than 5.400 projects. The current funding period 2014-2020 has a budget of €3.4 billion. Open calls for proposals:
- Environment & resource efficiency – submission of concepts notes by 14 July 2020
- Climate action – submission of full proposals by 6 October 2020.
The European Commission proposes to raise the budget of the LIFE programme to €5.4 billion between 2021 and 2027. The new LIFE programme will have four sub-programmes: nature and biodiversity; circular economy and quality of life; climate change mitigation and adaptation; and clean energy transition.

Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge ‘Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials’ focuses on moving to a greener, more resource efficient and climate-resilient economy.
Since 2014, the programme has supported more than 300 projects working in the field of circular economy, climate action, raw materials, Earth observation, water, natural resources and ecosystems and cultural heritage. You can check them all in the data hub.
New Green Deal Call mobilising research and innovation to foster a just and sustainable societal transition will open mid-September 2020.
