ENER
The Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission is responsible for developing and implementing European Energy Policy and ensuring that all Europeans have access to clean, secure, affordable and reliable energy. Energy policy is central to the European Green Deal and in making Europe the world's first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
About us
Main objectives of our policy:
- The decarbonisation of the economy, in particular by speeding up the deployment of clean energy across the economy, promoting a power system largely based on renewables and facilitating smart integration of electricity, heating, transport and industry;
- Ensuring energy security, built on solidarity and trust between EU countries and by assessing how sources of supply can be diversified;
- An integrated, interconnected and well-functioning European energy market;
- Energy efficiency first as a contribution to moderation of energy demand;
- The further development of research, innovation and competitiveness;
- Strengthening the external dimension of European energy policy.
